I hope you are all doing well and staying busy. Here are some virtual fun events for you to choose from.
We will not be putting a newsletter out this month. There are great events in the works, but until there is a bit more clarity on a re-opening date, there is not much news to report.
I will keep you updated this way with all virtual events and news with the club.
The University Club has a new member only group page on Facebook.
Go to The University Club Facebook page there will be a link to join the private group.
It will be a nice way to announce member only events , daily food specials, or just a nice way to connect with other members.
The Irish American Heritage Museum of Albany has invited the members of the UClub to a very special Zoom performance with storyteller and singer Helena Byrne.
The performance will be half off the original household price of $20 to $10. If you would like to watch please call Cathy at 518-427-1916 and she will be happy to help
with set up. I will also be happy to assist in any way.
The performance will be Friday evening May 8th at 7:00 pm.
Members Ann Marie and Fred Schwartz of The Musicians of Ma’alwyck will be giving a very special performance on Mothers day at The First Reformed Church in Schenectady.
Check out Ann Marie's Musical Treasure Chest on The Musicians of Ma’alwyck’s web-site. She shares four of her all time favorite pieces of music.
Here is the link to both. https://musiciansofmaalwyck.org/musical-treasure-chest
Happy Mothers Day to all the moms! We hope you have a spectacular Mothers Day!
Even though we will not be celebrating our usual fun brunch buffet here at the club or walking through Washington Park for Tulip Fest
you are all very much in our thoughts!
And lastly I would normally write my Mimi’s Corner in the newsletter, but I will have to do it this way this month.
As I sit and write to you all it is hard believe that seven weeks has gone by since we had to close your beloved club.
I cannot express really into words how much I am looking forward to seeing the club vibrant and full of life again. As I am sure you are all looking forward to getting back to some normalcy.
As I have said so many times before this is literally my “pinch me” job.
I never thought that after I closed my beloved restaurant The Londonderry Café that I would or could ever be remotely satisfied in a job.
Well boy was I proven wrong. It is so much more than I could of ever have hoped for, and I owe that to you. the members that make up this extraordinary group.
The University Club of Albany has literally stood the test of time.
It has made it through wars, depressions, pandemics, and anything else the world has thrown at it, and yet here it is, still standing. It is because of you, every member past and present that this club has always moved forward and it is because of you that it will continue to do so.
It has and will not be easy. Yet you the glorious, devoted members always find a way to pull through, and keep it going.
I am sure you will find a way to do it again.
With much love and gratitude,
